Recruiting PhD students
In 2020, we have two PhD student positions with research areas including, but are not limited to: on-chip metamaterials, inverse design of photonic devices and systems, lithium-niobate electro-optic devices, artificial-intelligence hardware based on photonics, microwave photonics, electromagnetic field and microwave technology.
(2) Desired qualifications:
- Candidates should graduate from either an undergraduate or master program in 2021 and with a solid foundation in either optics, or physics, or electronics, or material sciences, or mathematics, etc;
- Candidates should have a strong self-motivation in research work in nanophotonics, receive a certain degree of research training, can work independently or in a team;
- Excellent academic background;
- Good English communication skills.
(3) How to apply:
Please email your detailed curriculum vitae, transcripts, and publications to Prof. Yang Li (email@example.com) with the title “Apply for PhD position”. Candidates are welcome to join the 2020 summer camp held by the department of precision instruments at Tsinghua University (details are to be announced).
Candidates should have an earned PhD degree in optics, physics, electrical engineering, material sciences, mathematics or a related field. The ideal candidates should have strong self-motivation, the ability to conduct research independently and collaboratively, outstanding oral and written communication skills, and research experience in design, fabrication, and characterization of nanophotonics. We are particularly interested in candidates with research experience in inverse design of photonics, lithium niobate (LiNbO3) photonics, metamaterials and metasurfaces, photonic hardware for artificial intelligence, electromagnetics and microwave technology.
(2) Compensation and benefits:
Prof. Li will try his best to help qualified candidates in applying for the prestigious “Shuimu Tsinghua Scholar Program” (http://postdoctor.tsinghua.edu.cn/thu/index.htm), and provide competitive salary based on candidate’s qualification.
For the year of 2019, “Shuimu Tsinghua Scholar Program” will support no more than 100 candidates. The annual salary is 300,000 RMB before tax for two years. Shuimu Tsinghua Scholars will be provided with transitional housing on campus or be provided with housing subsidies of 42,000 RMB per year, state-funded housing subsidies of 1,2000 RMB per year, as well as subsidies for property management and heating. Shuimu Tsinghua Scholars have the privilege of the medical plan as Tsinghua faculty, and their children have the privilege of going to Tsinghua University’s kindergarten and primary school as the children of Tsinghua faculty. Shuimu Tsinghua Scholars can join career development program offered to Tsinghua faculty, and can apply for funds and allowances to attend international conferences.
(3) How to apply:
